I¹m on Windows XP and I¹m using MS Office Pro 2007. Every time my Office
attempts to install updates, they always fail and the system attempts to run
the installer at least four times before it opens any of the Office
applications. The problem is continually getting worse to where I now get
an error stating ³The setup controller has encountered a problem during
install. Please review the log files for further information on the error.²
Once I get past these errors, everything appears to work properly. I was
hoping that installing the updates might fix my problem but I can¹t get the
updates to install. Any ideas on how I get the updates to install or
eliminate the errors?

Here's what I pulled from the event viewer. It has 4 warnings 1004

Event ID 1004
Detection of product '{91120000-0014-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}', feature
'AlwaysInstalled', component '{91120000-0014-0000-0000-00413F67CB5F}'
failed. The resource 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office
Demo\Office12\ID_10014.DPC' does not exist.

Followed by 1 warning 1001

Event ID 1001
Detection of product '{91120000-0014-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}', feature
'AlwaysInstalled' failed during request for component
'{91120000-0014-0000-0000-00413F67CB5F}'

And finally I1Information 11708 in the application log

Event ID 11708
Product: Microsoft Office Professional 2007 -- Installation failed.

Before it finally starts. Does this help?

Looks like a demo copy was once loaded on this machine before the full 2007
Pro version was loaded. Is there any way to get rid of the demo version
without disrupting the full version?
