I have Windows 7 (64bit) and Office 97 home and student. Whenever there is an
update for office available. the auto install always fails. (Windows updates
always install with no issues) I then have to install the update manually to
get the update to install properly. It's frustrating having to do this. Can
anyone explain why this happens? Is there anything I can do or fix to get the
updates to install automatically? Thanks

Office '97 or is that a typo. Office 97 hasn't had an update in about 10
years not since SP2b was released about the year 2000. And there was no
Home and Student version back then.

Now if you are talking about Office 2007 Home and Student that is a
different story. What are the exact error messages received when the update
fails? There are a number of fixes for update issues and I am sure that
someone will post them shortly but if you can post the error messages that
may help to narrow down the problem you have.

Darn I must have been drunk when i wrote this. yes I meant office 2007 not
97. Every time there is an update for office 2007 it fails to load with
different error codes. I can download the update manually and It updates ok,
but not when done through windows update. Can anyone explain why and if
theres a fix?
