Hi. I'm running office 03 professional on Win XP, sp3. Every other
update works fine, but anything to do with office fails. Currently
update.ms.com shows 22 updates ready to go. They're already downloaded
from previous times, but the installations fail.
I ran through the remedial process with MS update support - rebuilding
folders, reinstalling the update agent, registering .dlls - but
nothing worked.
Then I downloaded one of the office updates and tried to install it
manually, but it too failed. Unfortunately, the MS error msg gives no
clue what happened. But I take it the problem isn't the update agent,
it's with office itself.
Anyone have any idea what the problem is here?
How can anyone guess what your problem is when you don't even post the
error message(s) that you get?
Ok, here it is. The sum total of Microsoft's error messages is - and
I'm being generous with words - "Update failed."

There should be some code like 0x12345678 somewhere too. Google for
that code.
